What is a ford?

As you practice for your theory test, you may come across a question about a ford and what to do if you drive through one.

In simple terms, a ford is water across a road, usually a stream or it can be flood water too.

Where can I find a ford?

The reason you may not have seen a ford or even a ford sign is because most fords are found in small towns and villages. You will hardly see them in larger towns.

What happens if you drive through a ford?

When you drive through a ford, your car's brakes are likely to be wet. If your car brakes are wet, they may not work properly when you need them. Before continuing with your journey, you should dry your brakes by driving slowly and gently pressing on them. This will dry them so that when you need them, they will work properly.
